Francis McArdle Obituary

Francis X. McArdle KILL DEVIL HILLS - Francis X. McArdle, 85, died of heart failure Feb. 17, 2009, in his North Carolina home. Mr. McArdle was born Aug. 22, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to James and Lillian McArdle. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Francis was employed with American Can Company as a financial analyst for 40 years. He and his deceased wife Audrey retired in 1983 to their Outer Banks home. Known as "Bud," he was married to Audrey for more than 57 years. He was active in Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Parish. Surviving are his four sons: Kevin, Danny, Richard and Jamie and his seven grandchildren. Friends may join the family for a viewing in Twiford Funeral Home Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk by Father Edward Fitzpatrick. Following the mass, burial will be at Roanaoke Island Memorial Gardens in Manteo, N.C. Audrey's cremated remains will be laid to rest with Francis.
