Coalar Gray Obituary

Coalar S. Gray SUFFOLK - Coalar Spivey Gray, 77, died Feb. 20, 2009, in Sentara Obici Hospital. A native of Gates County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Minnie H. and Lucious Spivey and the widow of Howard Evans Gray. Mrs. Gray was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church and was a retired paper inspector at Union Camp. Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Phelps of Suffolk; son, Howard Gray Jr. of Suffolk; sisters, Norma Morris and Ila Blanchard of Suffolk and Jessie Eason and Myrtle Briggs of Hampton; brother, Darvin Spivey of Suffolk; two grandchildren, Brooke Phelps and Ian Gray. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory by the Rev. Edward C. Johnson with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
