Virginia Widgen Obituary

Virginia H. Widgen ONANCOCK - Virginia Hodge Widgen, 93, passed away at the Hermitage on the Eastern Shore, Onancock, on Feb. 22, 2009. Her parents were the late Rev. George R. Hodge and the late Florence Lyon Hodge. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter B. "Shorty" Widgen of Nassawadox, Va. Mrs. Widgen graduated from Averett College and the Lynchburg General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Northampton -Accomack Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox. Survivors include two sons, Walter B. Widgen III of Kirkwood, Mo., and his fiancée, Martha G. Middleton and Paul H. Widgen of Belle Haven, Va., and Mary Ann McDevitt and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Widgen Pitt and her husband Lenn of Beaumont, Texas. A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Red Bank Baptist Church with the Rev. John Robertson officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, P.O. Box 932, Nassawadox, VA 23413 or to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Eastern Shore, 165 Market St., Onancock, VA 23417. Funeral arrangements are by the B.D. Holland Funeral Home in Nassawadox. Family and friends may sign the guestbook at www.hollandfuneralhome.net.
