Walter C. Jones Sr.

Walter C. Jones Sr. NORFOLK - Walter C. Jones Sr., 84, of the 900 block of Marietta Ave., passed away Feb. 23, 2009, in his residence. He was born March 26, 1924, to the late Charlotte and Wesley Jones in North Carolina. He retired from ILA as a shortshoreman in 1983. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Jones and a son, Walter Jones Jr. He is survived by four sons, Al, Jeremiah, Ronald and Terry Jones; three brothers, Linwood, June and Percy Jones; six grandchildren, Netta Jones- Braxton, Chazity Jones, Corey Jones, Lamont Jones, Shenita Jones and Latonya Jones; two great-grandchildren, Malik and Delonte; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. The Rev. Jeremiah Jones will officiate. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 954 Marietta Ave. one hour prior to service for procession to the chapel.
