Ellen Faircloth Obituary

Ellen Ward Faircloth SUFFOLK - Ellen Ward Faircloth, 82, passed away Feb. 26, 2009, at Lake Prince Woods in Suffolk. Born Feb. 19, 1927, in Whaleyville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Asbell Ward and McCoy Sherald Ward. Ellen graduated from Whaleyville High School and attended Longwood College. An active member of West End Baptist Church for more than 50 years, Ellen was always ready to step in and do what needed to be done. She also served on the board of the Suffolk chapter of the American Cancer Society for over 12 years, and was an active past member and officer of the Lakeview Heights Garden Club. Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Allen Joshua Faircloth. Survivors include her daughter, Hope Faircloth Coffey and her husband Gary W. Coffey of Wilkesboro, N.C.; her son, Allen Joshua "Jay" Faircloth Jr. and his wife Susan Pickard Faircloth of Cary, N.C.; three granddaughters, Ashton Coffey, Taylor Faircloth and Faith Faircloth; devoted niece, Christy Faircloth Lynch and husband Jimmy Lynch; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in West End Baptist Church, 105 St. James Ave., Suffolk, VA 23434. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434 is serving the family. The family would like to express special appreciation and thanks to all the staff of Lake Prince Woods and the Memory Unit for the numerous ways they extended love and selfless care to Mrs. Faircloth.
