Robert Woodies Obituary

Robert J. Woodies VIRGNIA BEACH - Robert J. Woodies of the 500 block of Spring Lake Crescent died Feb. 25, 2009. Born in South Norfolk, he was an aircraft preservation mechanic and retired from NARF after 30 years of service. Survivors include five daughters, Avis Caldwell (Michael), Detra Armstrong (Calvin), Myra Lewis, Ivy L. Woodies and Carita Woodies; five sons, Robert J. Woodies Jr., Oswald Woodies, Sheraton Woodies, Willie Woodies and Denley Woodies (Daphne); six sisters, Muriel E. Rodgers, Selery L. Jarrett, Larosa L. Jones, Juanita L. Braud, Jacqueline Mosley and Bernadine Woodies Hodges; seven brothers, Bernard A. Woodies, Horace C. Woodies, Carlton L. Woodies, Calvin L. Woodies, Moses A. Woodies, Thaddeus N. Woodies and Tyrone M. Woodies; 14 grandchildren, three great- grandchildren; an aunt, Lottie Owens and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Ivy V. Woodies; his mother, Muriel Woodies and his father, Woodis M. Woodies. A funeral will be held Monday at noon in Mt. Olive Baptist Church by the Rev. Lamont Brown. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel.
