Franklin R. Moss Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Franklin R. Moss Sr., 73, went to be with his wife Doris and his heavenly father Feb. 26, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer while at home surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 10, 1935, son of the late Thomas J. and Annie Allen Moss. Frank was a small town country man born in South Mill, N.C. Frank had retired as a crane operator after 33 years of service at NORSHIPCO. Dad was a loyal friend and mentor to all those he came in contact with. He is survived by his four daughters, Debra and husband Leonard Riportella, Donna Stokes, Diana and husband David Michalski and Rebecca Moss Bryant, all of Chesapeake; his sons, Franklin R. Moss Jr. and Frederick (Ricky) L. Moss. of North Carolina; his two brothers and two sisters; also surviving are his 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The viewing will begin Monday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. A graveside funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, 524 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. William A. Buddy Hoggard will officiate.
