Carroll Willoughby Obituary

Carroll C. Willoughby ELIZABETH, N.J. - Carroll Curtis Willoughby, 80, formerly of Chuckatuck, died Feb. 28, 2009, at home. He was the beloved husband of Eileen Holder for 30 years; loving father of Melanie Willoughby of Lawrenceville, N.J., Thomas Willoughby of Woodbridge, N.J., and Stephen Willoughby of Middletown, N.J.; stepfather of Eileen Sorbera of East Rutherford, N.J., and Joseph Holder of Elizabeth; and brother of Clair, Marion and Gladys. He is also survived by five grandchildren. The visitation will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Growney Funeral Home, www.growneyfuneral.com., 1070 North Broad St., Hillside, N.J. Cremation will be private. Mr. Willoughby was a dispatcher for Goldsmith Transportation in South Kearny for 20 years and retired in 1996. He was a Marine during the Korean conflict and a member of the American Legion Post 69 Carlstadt and the VFW of Bayonne. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Legion Post 69, Carlstadt, N.J., in Carroll Curtis Willoughby's memory would be appreciated.
