Larry Sims Obituary

Larry D. Sims PORTSMOUTH - Larry Dean Sims, 60, went to be with the Lord March 1, 2009. Larry was born Sept. 11, 1948, in Fayetteville, Tenn. He was the son of Ora Mae Satterfield of Portsmouth and the late Charles Satterfield Jr. Larry attended Cradock High School and then joined the U.S. Army. He attended Congregational Christian Assembly, was a member of Portsmouth Moose Lodge No. 898, enjoyed collecting things and riding his bike. Besides his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Barbara Jean Bell and Alice Lynn Neathery; a brother, Charles Satterfield III; a niece, Charon Manibusan; four nephews, Richard Gayle, Ryan Neathery, Brad Neathery and Keith Neathery; and many other beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Genesis Marcum. Burial with military honors will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
