Mary Mays Obituary

Mary Thelma Mays SUFFOLK - Mary Thelma Mays, 88, died March 1, 2009, in Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late Ladonia Lassiter and Ernest Homer Lassiter and was predeceased by husband, Raby R. Mays. She is survived by a daughter, Lori Burfield and husband Allan of Hampstead, N.C.; sons, Ray Mays and wife Pat of Smithfield, Va., David Mays and wife Sue of Richmond, Va., Clarence Mays and wife Phyllis of Moyock, N.C., and Robert Mays and wife Diane of Valdese, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and by her brothers and sister. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev Charles W. Thompson. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
