Lillian Koleszar Obituary

Lillian Koleszar VIRGINIA BEACH - Lillian Margaret Chamos Koleszar went to be with the Lord March 1, 2009, from her Virginia Beach home surrounded by our prayers and love. She was born in New York City Feb. 23, 1929, the daughter of the late Stephen and Margaret Chamos. She was predeceased by Victor A. Koleszar, her husband of 49 years. After spending her early years in New York City, Lily, as she is affectionately known, grew up in New Brunswick, N.J., where she met and married Victor, her best friend. Lily and Victor shared a Hungarian heritage, expressing their love of the culture through great food, music and happy times. They moved from New Jersey to Chicago and then to Suffolk where she and Victor raised their daughters. She later worked for 14 years as the manager of a high-rise apartment building before retiring in 1999. After Victor passed away, Lily moved to Virginia Beach where she spent many happy times with her family and friends at her favorite place, the beach. We will remember our mother and friend as a loving woman who had sparkles in her eyes and a great enjoyment of life. Hers was the home in which family and friends would gather and where she made everyone feel special. She was an avid reader who loved music and the theater, eating at her favorite restaurants and playing cards with her best friends. She was her daughters' most devoted supporter throughout the years. While she is no longer with us in person, her spirit is with us through our love for her. Leaving to cherish her memory are her daughters, Patricia A. Koleszar and April K. Tollenaere with husband Jamie, all of Virginia Beach; her brother, Stephen Chamos and wife Kitty and niece Julie C. Gilbert and husband Mark, all of Hagerstown, Md.; niece, Kathy C. Reeder and husband Jay, their children, Perry and Katie, of Clear Spring, Md.; and her many relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives at 9 a.m. and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 11 a.m. Ground committal will be at 1 p.m. in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Ocean Park Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 5545, Virginia Beach, VA 23455. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com.

I have the most pleasant memories of Lily at Nags Head. We laughed and had fun for 30 years.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and remembering the great times will help.

Love, June
