Marie Albis Obituary

Marie Heath Albis VIRGINIA BEACH - Marie Heath Albis, 89, departed this life to be with her Lord Feb. 28, 2009. Marie was a kind, gentle and elegant woman who was a friend to many and a mother to all who had the good fortune to know her. Although we know she is at peace, her absence leaves a void that can never be filled. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Patricia Smith and husband Robert of Salem, Va.; son, Joseph Albis III and wife Edyie; and son, David Albis and wife Diana, all of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Roxanne and Britt Visser, Marcie and Todd Owens, Jennifer and Brian Shockley and Cortney and Tom Spitnale and Emily and Michael Albis; her brother, Milton Heath; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph S. Albis Jr.; her mother, Carrie Heath; her siblings, Bernard Heath, Bea Perrin and Ruby Schutte; and close family friend, Geraldine Forbes. The Albis family wishes to thank the staff of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and the Heartland Hospice who lovingly cared for our mother in the final years leading to her journey home to heaven. A graveside memorial service to honor and celebrate Marie's life will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m.

Patricia, David and Joe,
It's hard to find words to express how much your parents ment to me.
When Jenneane and I moved to the area, they treated us like part of your family. Many fond memories were formed sharing Thanksgiving, Christmas, dancing and sharing family times.
When Edie and I moved to Williamsburg, Marie welcomed her with open arms. We enjoyed our day trips to visit and take her out to eat.
Your Dad was just as carring as you mother, they were a perfect pair.
I speak for Leesa and Ted as well as Edie and I in expressing our sinceres symathy in your loss.

To: David Albis & Family

It's been a long time David since we've seen or talked with each other. I have kept in contact with some of our classmates, and most recently have renewed friendships with others on Facebook.

I remember meeting your mother when we were in high school. I know what a special place our mothers hold in our lives and heart.
I know that your mother will be greatly missed.

I am currenly living in Milford, MA. I moved up here the first of the year for a new job. I have been a radiation therapist for over 25 years and have had the priviledge of living in several different states.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Joy Allgood

To: Joseph Albis III:

Dear Mr Albis,

I do not know whether you may remember me, but I believe that we were classmates at both Granby Elementary and later Granby high Schools during the 1950s, I was known at the time as Ronald Feuer, but i changed my name to its present form when I lived in Israel during the 1970s and 1980s; it is common practice for people living in Israel to change their names from so-called 'Jewish' ones to their Hebrew equivalents.

I have been living in England for the past 25 years, most recently in Newcastle upon Tyne, a city roughly the size of Norfolk located some 300 miles NNE of London. I married an English Jewish girl when I lived in Israel, but we are childless by choice. I am retired from an international commercial information brokerage in Liverpool which I had founded, and my wife and I now live in a retirement community in Newcastle.

I keep in touch with events back in Norfolk through reading the Pilot Online, and it was there that I saw the obituary for your mother. I can well imagine how you feel, having lost both my parents within two days of each other this past October, although they were some years older than your mother, both being in their mid-nineties.

Please accept my sincere condolences on this tragic loss. With warmest best wishes,

Cordially,

Ron Lahav
(Ronald J. Feuer)

PS Please note that this Guestbook makes no provision for people living outside the US, Canada, and US Possessions, so I have had to put Virginia down as my state.
