Paul Johnson Obituary

Paul E. Johnson VIRGINIA BEACH - Paul Emerson Johnson, 84, passed away March 2, 2009, in Sentara Bayside Hospital. Paul was born April 27, 1924, in Paris, Ky., the son of Frank Johnson and Julia Crump Johnson and was married to Mary E. Johnson who preceded him in death. He was a veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a master chief machinist's mate. After the Navy, Paul had a successful career in real estate and construction. He was also an avid golfer and a member of the Swindlers at Oceana. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Louis W. and Darla Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara A. and James A. Riviere; daughter, Lynnette J. Gawrys; grandchildren, Laurie A. Gurley, Jeremy Caleb Johnson, Karlyn L. Gawrys, all of Virginia Beach, Lewis B. Johnson of Lanexa, Va.; great-grandchildren, Ashley T. Themides, D. Conner Gurley and Kali R. Parham, all of Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold S. Johnson and sister, Elsie M. Waugh. A funeral will be private with entombment in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Cape Henry Rotary Club, 3181 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. You may offer condolences at www.mem.com.

Grandpa/Dad - he will be sorely missed. If you didn't know him, you missed a lot! He was never dull or boring, that's for sure. Sending lots of love and prayer to everyone.
