Joseph Morgan Obituary

Joseph P. Morgan III NORFOLK - Joseph P. "Joey" Morgan III, born Oct. 9, 1970, to Joseph and Anna Morgan, departed to eternal life unexpectedly March 3, 2009, in the arms of his loving brother. A native of Portsmouth, he attended Cradock High School until he was involved in an automobile accident in 1988. After being hospitalized for a year and home schooled, he returned to school and graduated from Manor High. Although he was locked in a body that wouldn't respond, Joey never gave up hope that he would one day walk again. He was an inspiration to all who met him and loved sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and shopping online. We never knew what we would find in his mailbox. UPS and FedEx knew him well. Joey was predeceased by his father, Joseph P. Morgan Jr. He is survived by his mother, Anna Kimble Morgan; his brother, best friend and caregiver, Herbert K. Morgan; sister-in-law, Nichole Morgan; and nephews, Jacob and Jackson Morgan. A graveside service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Olive Branch Cemetery by Pastor Tim Robertson. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. Joey is no longer trapped in his body, but is now walking and talking with his Dad. Joey is free at last. Rest in peace. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.

I was so sorry to hear about Joey. I found out Sat., March 28th and it really came as a shock to me. I went to school with Joey at Craddock High and we shared a special friendship before and after his accident. Eventually life took us in different directions until last year when Joey looked me up thru the internet. It was great talking to him again and he still had that same positive attitude and motivation to live life. He will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

I just learned of Joey's passing. Joey and I knew each other as young children. My family moved away from the community and settled in the community of Joey's cousins , the Herrings. I have not seen Joey in years, but have often thought of him. He will always be in my heart as well as his family. God Bless and I am thinking of you all.
