William Gandy Obituary

William F. Gandy VIRGINIA BEACH - William Foster Gandy, 65, of the 1400 block of Deer Pond Lane, passed away March 2, 2009, at Chesapeake Rehab Center. He was born Sept. 28, 1943, to the late Delila and George Gandy Sr. in Daphne, Ala. William served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. He was a member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he was an usher and sang in the choir. He is survived by one daughter, Desiree Gandy; two sons, Jaye Gandy (Patrece) and Gerald Gandy (Danielle); two sisters, Arlene Jacquette and Gwendolyn Elder; four brothers, George Gandy Jr., Ralph Gandy, Bernard Gandy and Wayman Gandy; seven grandchildren; former wife, Sarah Peoples Perry; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 120 W. Berkley Ave. Pastor Willie McNair will officiate. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
