Daniel Joseph Alvarez CHESAPEAKE - Daniel Joseph Alvarez, 45, of the 1100 block of Fentress Road, passed away March 5, 2009, in his home. A native of San Antonio, Texas, he is survived by his loving parents, Teresa and Leroy Brandt; his father, Joe Alvarez and wife Alma of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Melinda A. Commander and husband Curtis of Chesapeake; a brother, David J. Alvarez and wife Michelle of Lehi, Utah; maternal grandmother, Delia Matos of Guantanamo, Cuba; paternal grandmother, Ida Grijalva and paternal grandfather Abel Grijalva, both of San Antonio; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in Freedom Baptist Church, 308 N. Centerville Turnpike, Chesapeake, near the intersection of Butts Station Road. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
