Shirley Ann Thomas NORFOLK - Shirley Ann Thomas, 72, of the 1300 block of W. 37th St., passed away March 8, 2009. She entered this life June 18, 1936, to Mildred and the late George Coleman Sr. Shirley was predeceased by her brother, George Coleman Jr.; aunt, Blanche Stovall; and nephew, George Foy Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory husband, Robert Thomas; mother, Mildred Coleman; three daughters, Donna Thomas, Patricia Thomas and Cynthia Lowrance (Steve); one son, Robert Thomas; one brother, Ervin Coleman; six sisters, Yvette Chavis (Michael), Sandra Speller (Bobby), Brenda Bellamy (Octavious), Irene Foy (George), Carolyn Coleman and Evelyn McElrath; one aunt, Evelyn Comer; four grandchildren, Dontay Thomas, Shavon Thomas, Dwight Thomas and Sirlenia Lowrance; one great-grandchild, Quireno Dyer; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. The Rev. Nathaniel Roberson will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at 1331 W. 37th St. one hour prior to service for procession to the chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
