Georgia Riddick Obituary

Georgia Mae Riddick CHESAPEAKE - God called home to eternal rest one of his most precious angles, Georgia Mae Riddick, 84, on June 12, 2009. She was devoted to family, friends and her extended family at the church to which she belonged and so dearly loved. Mrs. Riddick was one of 11 children born to William and Gladys Newbold, who predeceased her. She was a lifetime member of Rehoboth AME Church, Chesapeake. She served faithfully and cheerfully as a stewardess, usher and missionary. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Mr. Bradford Riddick. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Mrs. Arminta Wilson (Jeffery) and Vera Davis; a brother, John W. Newbold (Shirley); a loving sister, Cynthia Newbold Brabble; a granddaughter, Arnita Landy; two grandsons, Darrell Landy and Eric J. Wilson Jr.; two great-granddaughters, Breyona and Nyla; two brothers-in-law, Cecil Riddick and Howard Riddick (Betty); two sisters-in-law, Emma Newbold and Thelma Riddick; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, in Rehoboth AME Church, Chesapeake, with the Rev. Willie P. Boothe III officiating. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Corprew Funeral Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, is in charge. Viewing will begin at noon today. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 7 p.m. The body will be in the church at noon Wednesday.
