Dorothy Foxworth Obituary

Dorothy P. Foxworth PORTSMOUTH - Dorothy Pearte Foxworth, beloved wife and mother, formerly of Portsmouth, and Kill Devil Hills, N.C., died peacefully at home with her family, June 12, 2009, in Hurricane W.Va., after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Portsmouth, April 14, 1920, and lived most of her life in Portsmouth. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and church choir throughout her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Thomas E. Foxworth Sr.; and by her parents, William V. and Susie B. Pearte; and her brother, William V. Pearte Jr. Surviving her are her son, Thomas E. Foxworth Jr. and wife Carolyn Watson of Hurricane, W.Va.; her daughter, Jean Foxworth Schild and husband William J. of Wilmington, N.C.; her sister, Mary Ann Sweeney of Norfolk; six grandchildren, William Thomas Schild, Thomas E. Foxworth III, Robert Watson Foxworth, Laura Jean Hay, Elizabeth Ann McDavid and Suzanne Elizabeth Fichter; and 13 great-grandchildren. Her family will gather on Hilton Head Island and in Wilmington, N.C., to celebrate and honor her life. Memorials to Dorothy P. Foxworth may be made to Alzheimer's Association at 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
