William Taylor Obituary

William E. Taylor Sr. CHESAPEAKE - William Edison Taylor Sr., of Walden Street, passed away June 13, 2009, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Born in Old Princess Anne County, he was the son of the late William Henry Taylor and Mamie Gilbert Taylor. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Bertha Mattie Taylor and a granddaughter, Whitney Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 795. A loving father and grandfather, Mr. Taylor is survived by a son, William E. Taylor Jr. and wife Jacquelyn; a daughter, Donna Guthrie and husband Danny, all of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Brian Taylor, Scott Taylor, Erin Apple and Sara Guthrie; as well as six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. Danny Kesner will officiate. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Viewing will begin today with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Mauser and the nursing staff on 6 East, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, for the care given to Mr. Taylor during his illness. I am very sorry to hear about Mr.Taylor. My thoughts and prayers are with all. Mr.Taylor was a very good neighbor to my dad AL Edwards & he will be missed.

I know Bertha has welcomed him with open arms into that great Fraternity over there. Pain and infirmity have left them both. Godspeed dear friends and may patience and understanding be bestowed on your loved ones in this time of their greiving. We will all miss them terribly.
