Evangeline Davis Obituary

Evangeline C. Davis VIRGINIA BEACH - Evangeline Christina Davis, 80, passed away June 18, 2009 in Norfolk. Born in Jackson Center, Ohio, daughter of Clarence Holtkamp and Wilhemina Poppe, "Vangie," was married to Robert Paul Kohler for 34 years until his death in 1983. Together they raised four children, Stanley Kohler of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dr. Christine Kohler Steinhagen of Virginia Beach, Melissa Blackwood of Moline, Ill., and Theresa Kohler-Ruda of Felton, Calif. She later married Colonel Ray L. Davis and resided in Naples, Fla., for 17 years until he passed in 2003. She is survived by her four children; sons-in-law, Bruce Steinhagen, Richard Blackwood, and Edward Ruda; granddaughters, Tiffany and Ashley Steinhagen, Jaime Steinhagen Shaddix, and Anne Marie Weder; grandson, Jerry Weimer Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Lilian Weimer. Evangeline graduated valedictorian from New Knoxville High School in 1947. She enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing. Her final resting place will be Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Ohio. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 27, at 11 a.m.
