Patricia Mann Obituary

Patricia Ann Mann VIRGINIA BEACH - Patricia Ann Mann of Virginia Beach died unexpectedly June 23, 2009, in Frankfort, Ky. Pat, also known as "Trish," was born Nov. 29, 1945. She grew up in Williamsburg, Va., and graduated from James Blair High School and later from Old Dominion University with a B.S. degree in health and physical education. Pat taught P.E. and health in the Virginia Beach schools for 19 years. She coached both softball and field hockey. She and her best friend, Eva Little, co-owned and operated the Village Engraver in Fairfield Shopping Center for several years. She had a great love for animals, camping, photography, traveling, and sports. Pat's pets were a vital part of her life; Patches, Rags and Izzy brought unmeasured joy to her. Even though her death was a tragic one, she died taking the trip of her dreams to see the West accompanied by Izzy and her dear cousin, Alice. Pat was predeceased by her beloved mother, Dorothy Potter Mann. Her father, Archie Mann and his wife Patsy of Nags Head, N.C., and her sister, Bess Mann of Virginia Beach are left with loving memories of her life and her passion for living. Other family members include her uncle, Stacy Mann of Nags Head, and her aunt, Lou Paul of Fuquay Varina, N.C. An important part of Pat's life was her adopted extended family of Eva, Shelly, Kelly, Linda and Bobby Little, as well as the many relatives and friends who blessed her life. A celebration of her life will take place Wednesday, July 1, at 2 p.m. in Wycliffe Presbyterian Church, 1445 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. A reception for family and friends will follow the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, Frankfort, Ky., or our local Virginia Beach Humane Society.

From the Spirit of my sister and from me, Bess
Your words of encouragement and support mean so very much to me. My sister was indeed a treasure to all of us who knew her. Her life reflected what she cherished most- caring and loving family and friends, upholding the values that we all grew up sharing- love, honesty, hard work, and a strong faith. Thank you so much for all that you have done for me since the passing of my sister. There are no words that can adequately express my sincere gratitude. May God bless you all.

Bess, Eva and families. Each time I head down the highway, I remember Trish and all the camping friends we had and hold dearly in our hearts. I have many joyful memories of those times with you and Trish, and the others. I regret that I can not be in VaBch, to celebrate her life and memories. Currently I am traveling thru Minnesota taking the trip we dreamed of, out west. Take care. Geri
