James Cartwright Obituary

James Cartwright Jr. CHESAPEAKE - James A. Cartwright Jr., 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family June 29, 2009. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of V.P.I. He became an electrical engineer and worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 35 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Helene N. Cartwright; two sons, James A. Cartwright and his wife Bonnie of Virginia Beach and George B. Cartwright; and a daughter, Elizabeth Cartwright Russell and her husband Ryan of Chesapeake; as well as four grandchildren, Zachary, Samuel, Charlotte and James. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. in Covenant United Methodist Church on Dock Landing Road, Friday, July 3. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.

I am sincerely sorry to hear about Jimmy's passing. I am sure the class of WWHS will also, he was a fine person. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of grief. (Class of '48)
