James Davis Obituary

James A. Davis Jr. CHESAPEAKE - James Allen "Shorty" Davis Jr., 46, of the 1100 block of Keats St., went home to be with his heavenly father, June 25, 2009, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was born May 12, 1963, in Pinetops, N.C. He was a 1982 graduate of Oscar Smith High School, Chesapeake, and worked as a security guard most of his life, but was unable to continue to do what he enjoyed due to illness. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Lillie R. "Nonnie" Davis; father, James Allen "Shortman" Davis Sr.; five sisters, Michelle Blount, Teresa Armstrong (Tony), Deborah Davis, Bettina Sessom and Ebonie Blount; one brother, Keith Davis; four aunts; four uncles; six great-aunts; two great- uncles; three nieces; two nephews; a special friend, Sylvia Brooks; a special daughter, Hope Brooks; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 120 W. Berkley Ave. Interment will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 1128 Keats St. one hour prior to service for procession to the chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
