Phyllis Moore Obituary

Phyllis G. Moore NORFOLK - Phyllis G. Moore, 57, of the 1100 block of Hannah St., passed away June 28, 2009, at Ben Secours DePaul Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 19, 1951, to the late Ruth and Lloyd Downing in Edenton, N.C. She retired after 34 years of service as a trauma nurse at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul Church of Christ Disciples, Norfolk. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Cordies Moore Jr.; one daughter, Anetra Quarshie; two sons, Cordies Moore III and Dwayne Moore Sr.; two sisters, Cathay Shepard and Ann Long; two brothers, Lloyd Downing Jr. and Floyd Lee Downing; four grandchildren, Kelsey Moore, Dwayne Moore Jr., Mia Moore and Vera Quarshie; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 1104 Hannah St. one hour prior to service for procession to the chapel. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.

Phyllis & I not only worked at Sentara Norfolk General for years but we also graduated from Booker T.Washington in the same year.My heartfelt condolences to the family,but rest assured that she is in a much better place than this.
