Jean Birsch Obituary

Jean Copes Birsch NORFOLK - Jean Copes Birsch, 77, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord Thursday, July 2, 2009. Jean was born in Parksley, Va., to the late Mildred E. and John B. Copes Jr. She was a member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Landon S. Birsch Jr.; a daughter, Deborah B. Julian of Norfolk; two sons, Landon S. Birsch III and wife Janet of Norfolk and J. Andrew Birsch and wife Debbie of Chesapeake; a sister, Sue Bell Hand of Norfolk; and six grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Nathan, Rachel, Erin and Lanny. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Copes and a sister Dorothy Kilgore. She was a loving wife, mother, and nanny to her grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Michael Danso, nurse Tina at Virginia Oncology and her Sentara hospice nurse, Roxie. A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Lafayette Presbyterian Church with Pastor Max Culler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lafayette Presbyterian Church, 1821 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23509 or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
