Lucy Old Grant PORTSMOUTH - Lucy Old Grant, 92, passed away peacefully June 30, 2009. Born to Lloyd and Lethia Old, she was a lifelong Portsmouth resident and predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph L. Grant. She was proud of her 62 years in the Portsmouth Woman's Club and the work she did in the Pilot Club. She worked as a docent in the Shipyard Museum Gift Shop. Other activities included memberships in the Portsmouth Executive Club and Polygon Club with her husband of 61 years. She loved people, serving her community, and staying active. Aunt Lucy placed great emphasis on taking care of family. She rarely missed a recital, graduation or gathering and was involved in planning family holiday celebrations. Mrs. Grant was predeceased by her brother, Lloyd Old Jr. and her sister, Sue Cross. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Susan Cross Parker, Judith Old Mayes, Walter Cross III, William Lloyd Cross, Kathleen Old Creek; 10 great-nieces and -nephews, and four great- great-nieces. Appreciation is offered to the staff at Bon Secours Maryview and Province Place for their kindness. A special thanks goes out for the continuity of care given, especially by Jaye. A service celebrating her life will be held in Loving Funeral Home, Monday, July 6, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. A private burial will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Monumental Methodist Church or Pilot Club of Portsmouth.

Lucy was a dear friend of my mom's (Boo) and very dear to me as well. She indeed was a caring person who never forgot to send me a birthday and Christmas card ... will greatly miss her. :-)
