Hazel Steinmeyer Obituary

Hazel R. Steinmeyer VIRGINIA BEACH - Hazel Ruth Steinmeyer, 96, was called home to her Lord July 3, 2009, in Virginia Beach. Hazel was the youngest of four children born to Rudolph and Eleanor Steinmeyer in Cleveland. She graduated from West Tec High School and went on to business school. She retired from Ameritrust Bank in 1978. Most important to Hazel throughout her life was her family and her church. Hazel was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Cleveland, for 87 years. She belonged to the Lutheran Business Women's Association and also sang in the choir. Hazel especially loved photography and traveling with her sister, Marie. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many of her own and her sister's clothes and enjoyed quilting. Hazel was also the family historian. Hazel had an invincible spirit and at age 90 after her sister died moved to Virginia Beach to be near her niece and family. Hazel was predeceased by her parents; sister, Marie; and her brothers, Elmer and Virgil. She will be dearly missed by her niece and husband, Ellen and Miles Westbrook; great-nieces, Donna Vaughn of Virginia Beach, Lori Westbrook of Redwood City, Calif.; and great- great-niece, Jenna Sveum, also of Redwood City; cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Steinmeyer, Parma, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. John Nicklas, North Olmsted, Ohio; and Doreen Jeske, Wickliffe, Ohio; and extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 9, in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com.
