Lucy Jones Obituary

Lucy O'Neal Jones CHESAPEAKE - Lucy O'Neal Jones, 85, passed away July 7, 2009, in Norfolk. She was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Avon, N.C., and had retired from General Electric as a processor. She was a member of Elizabeth River Baptist Church, Holly Point Senior Club and was a volunteer with the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of Jerry Junius Jones and is survived by her daughter, Diane Jones Divers and her husband Vernon Sr. of Virginia Beach; two sons, James G. Jones and wife Mary of Chesapeake and Michael J. Jones and wife Karen of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, Vernon Richard Divers Jr., Kimberly D. Thomas, Christopher Brian Divers, Pamela Jones Davis, David James Jones and Leanne Jones Price; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Vernell Jones of Raleigh, N.C., Christine Dobbins of Suffolk and a host of other relatives and friends. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, with Dr. A. Wayne Cook officiating. The burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Diane,Jimmy and Mike,
We are so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a sweet, kind and caring person
and will be missed greatly by many.
She was a beautiful person inward and
outward. Our prayers will be to lift
you up as you celebrate her wonderful
and full life. Cling tightly to your
