Leonard Intrieri

Leonard Intrieri VIRGINIA BEACH - Leonard Intrieri, 69, of the 600 block of Woodstock Road, passed away July 7, 2009, in Sentara Leigh Hospital after a brief battle with lung cancer. A native of Mount Kisco, N.Y., he was the son of the late Peter and Josephine Intrieri. He retired from the United States Navy as a senior chief petty officer after 22 years of service. He also retired from Dollar Tree stores as a vice president of human resources. He was a member of Old Donation Episcopal Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Karen L. Intrieri; two daughters, Laura I. Harper and husband Kenneth of Hampton and Sherrylyn I. Furchtenicht and husband Michael of Virginia Beach; a sister, Isabelle Andrews and husband David of Owasso, Okla.; two grandchildren, Samuel and Benjamin Furchtenicht, both of Virginia Beach; two sisters-in-law, Candy Bergquist and husband David of Manchester, Mass., and Anice Petersen of Houston, Texas; a brother-in-law, Stephen Petersen and wife Kay of Pettus, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews. He is also survived by special friends, Raymond and Nancy OHare of Melbourne, Fla., and Phyllis and Roy Awbrey of Virginia Beach. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Old Donation Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bob Randall officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium with a reception to follow in the church parish hall. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
