I first spent time with Laura the day that I met my husband. Laura and Drew spent the day with us at Busch Gardens. We had a wonderful time and I feel lucky to have known her, even if we were not very close. She will always be remembered as the bright and talented young woman that stole people's hearts at first meeting. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

"We mourn your loss but do not say goodbye
Goodbye is forever and this is only just a time
For soon we will earn our golden tap shoes too
And we'll all dance through the streets of Heaven
Right alongside you"
You will always and forever be missed, Laura. The studio will not be the same without you as we were all a big happy family that you were a vital part of. We will all meet again one day and will dance together forever. Love you!

I had the pleasure of knowing both Laura and Mike. Laura was a gem, one of earths perfect treasures. She had the ability to light up a room with her presence and smile alone. I was fortunate to be on the dance team with her and to be in many of her classes. She was such a wonderful person. She is beautiful in life and in death. Mike was everything a friend should be: honest, respectful, loyal, genuine. He attended my church and we went on a mission trip to Mexico together. He had such a good heart and was so sweet.
I feel so blessed to have known them, my life is so much better because of it. They impacted my life in huge ways and I miss them terribly.
My condolences to both families...they will be missed so much.

Laura always had a smile on her face. I can't remember a time I saw her when she was not laughing along with a friend, grinning for a picture, or dancing and singing along to whatever song was playing. She was always such a kind person and really cared about others around her. She was beautiful and talented and had so much promise. She was a blessing to her friends and family and it is really tragic when someone so wonderful is taken from the people who love her. I have faith that Laura is in heaven looking down on the world. I know she is happy and is waiting to see her family and friends again. To her family: You are all in my prayers. I hope that you are able to find peace knowing what an amazing daughter/ sister you had and that she is happy now and still reaching out to you to let you know everything will be ok. Let your worries fall on the shoulders of God and he will take them and heal your heart.

We watched you grow, week by week, into a wonderful, talented and poised young woman, destined for greatness. And although you were only here for the blink of an eye, you did so much for so many. The world's loss, the Lord's gain.

Laura always had a smile on her face, even way back in elementary school. Every time I saw her, whether in between classes, at church, or dancing with the Hilites, she always had a grin on her face. The world needs more people like Laura. She will be remembered as a wonderful sister, daughter, dancer, friend, and person. My condolences and prayers to the Etzell family. You all are in my heart, today and always.

Today I have to go to your funeral. I still do not understand how you are not going to be there if I call, and how the memories that I have are the only ones that are left. You were always a good friend, you loved as much as you were loved. I will always miss you.

There was a very special gift that Laura was given by her family. They taught her that the most important thing in life is to be a good friend. She brought people together through friendship in this life and has managed to bring them together even now. The thought of her smiling face brings a warmth to my heart. She will always be a part of us.

In High School Laura and I had a few blocks together. Being a year younger and having the same love for dancing and singing, I remember looking up to her since she was so talented when it came to both. But by far the most impressive thing that I noticed was she was so kind to everyone. I always thought that was a big deal, because I saw SO many other people in that school that were nothing like that. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and everyone else whos heart is broken.

IN MEMORIAL of LAURA ETZELL... Jan. 22, 1988 - July 11, 2009
A SPECIAL MOMENT IN TIME!!! Life is precious...a blink in time! Like the morning mist on a pond..or a flower which opens and blooms for so many to enjoy..so quickly just a memory. Laura was a special friend of my daughter Becky Dickerson and her suitemates at ODU. I first met Laura on Becky's 21st birthday. My first impressions....HER BEAUTIFUL SMILE, a SPECIAL young lady....respectful, polite, full of spirit, a GOOD friend who TOOK TIME TO BE THERE for Becky's surprise birthday event. And now I have learned....SO talented! I was looking forward to the prospect she could be Becky's new suitemate. I have posted a photo of that day on my Facebook. It was a SPECIAL MOMENT IN TIME now to be even more cherished! The only way to survive this sad time is to remember...WE WILL MEET AGAIN!

Laura was one of my best friends throughout high school! She was Laura number one and I was Laura number two. We shared so many memories from chorus trips, sleepovers, beach days, dances, graduation, and so much more. She will live on in all of Cheryl's,Cassie's, and my adventures. I love you girl. And to Mr. and Mrs. Etzell-I am so so so sorry. You were always parents to me and the others and you always will be. You will never be without a daughter for we all look to you as parents.
Always and forever,
(Laura #2)
