Eileen Johnson Obituary

Eileen Bowles Johnson CHESAPEAKE - Eileen Bowles Johnson, formerly of the 2400 block of Lloyd Drive, passed away July 13, 2009, in Chesterfield, Va. Born Dec. 3, 1921, in Danville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Irvin Hughes Bowles and Maude Merricks Bowles and wife of the late W. Frank Johnson. She was a graduate of Averett College and Longwood College and retired after 31 years as a teacher in the Chesapeake public school system. She was a member of South Norfolk Baptist Church and the Beta Theta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Franklin Johnson Potts and her husband Reginald Harrell Potts IV of Chesterfield, Va.; three grandchildren, Adam Leighton Potts, Katharine Eileen Potts and Emma Jane Potts; and a sister, Edith Merricks Bowles Johnston of Greenville, N.C. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens with the Rev. David Slayton officiating.
