Melvin Forehand Obituary

Melvin L. Forehand Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Melvin L. Forehand Sr., 86, passed away July 16, 2009, in Virginia Beach. A native of Norfolk County, he was the son of the late John F. and Beulah Daniel Forehand. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, the Rev. Edward Forehand, Ezra Forehand and Phillip Forehand. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps and later retired after 31 years of service as an instrument mechanic in machine shop 31 with Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of the West Park Church of Christ and a former member of the Lindale Church of Christ. He is survived by his loving wife, Marion G. Forehand; daughter, Sue Ann Adinolfe; sons, Don L. Forehand and Melvin L. Forehand Jr.; stepdaughter, Lynn G. Coates; stepsons, Norman D. Goodrich Jr. and Larry T. Goodrich; sisters, Fannie "Sis" Rodgers, Elizabeth Baker, Rose Bateman and Vivian Poindexter; a brother, Calvin Forehand; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday, July 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, Chesapeake. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J.
