Harold Young Obituary

Harold Young VIRGINIA BEACH - Harold "Curly" Young of Virginia Beach passed away suddenly at age 80 on July 16, 2009. He was born in Radford, Va., and was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Henry Young and Clydie Phillips Young. Curly was a retired contractor and master carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Barbara "Bonnie" Young; daughters, Sandy Young Daley and Vickie Decker and husband Frank Decker; sisters, Vivian DeJarnette and Bonnie Reid; and six grandchildren, Emily Decker, Jake Decker, Kaitlin Decker, Ricky Sawyer, Ashley Daley, and "his buddy," Adam Daley; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be sadly missed. Curly's gifts in woodworking were matched only by the generous, loving spirit he shared with all those around him. A memorial service will be held at Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Church, Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

I am so sad for losing such a great man. It was so sudden and will remain so painful in all of our hearts. Let the memory of him bring us joy for it is rare to meet a man like him ever in our lifetime. He was the best father to you Sandy and Vicki and the best grandfather to Ricky, Ashley and Adam. He was a loving and devoted husband to Bonnie. He was also a hard working man and was dedicated to his community. He impacted the lives of every person that met him. Its going to hurt us to not have him with us physically but remember how Blessed you are to have had him in your life and that he will always be in you. I love you very much Sandy and I hope you always know Im here when you need to cry or just talk about him... try not to feel empty or alone, I love all of you! And Curly loved you too!
