Albert Brickhouse Obituary

Albert L. Brickhouse CHESAPEAKE - Albert Lafayette Brickhouse, 91, was the son of the late William A. Brickhouse and Zordia Johnson Brickhouse. He was a longtime resident of the 3100 block of Cedarville Road and passed away July 4, 2009, in the home of his son Alton Brickhouse in Moyock, N.C. Albert retired in 1983 from Princess Anne Equipment Co. (John Deere) where he was a mechanic; he was a farmer prior to to going to work with John Deere. Being a prior farmer himself, he knew the needs of the farmers and was highly liked by many of the farmers. Albert was known by "Big Al" by many of the farmers in North Carolina. Albert was predeceased by a son, Frank Brickhouse; daughter, Gladys B. Newbert; and two sons-in-law, Joseph Dilday Sr. and the Rev. Danny L. Paul; and a grandson, Jamie L. Brickhouse. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Almae Brickhouse; daughter, Joyce Dilday of Portsmouth; son, Dallas Brickhouse and wife Ruth of Chesapeake; a son-in-law, Roger L. Newbert of Chesapeake; son, Alton Brickhouse and wife Carol of Moyock, N.C.; daughter, Debbie S. Paul of Chesapeake; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held July 7, 2009, with the Rev. Ernest Trueblood officiating in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Twiford's Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
