Gertie Todd Obituary

Gertie L. Todd NORFOLK - Gertie L. Todd, 59, of the 800 block of E. Olney Road, died at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, following courageous battles with cancer. Born Jan. 8, 1950, in Norfolk to the late Leon Ray and Beulah V. Tillett, she attended Norfolk Public Schools where she later worked as a cafeteria manager until becoming disabled. Cherishing in her memory are former husband, John A. Todd; their three children, Ronnie D., Lynne, and Yvette Todd; seven grandchildren, Tanesha and Tierra Todd, Tashima Newsome, TaShaira Pittman, Ronchelle and Ronniesha Beasley and Tresean Todd; three great-grandchildren, Tanajah, ZaNyah and SheNiyah; sister, Constance Harris; two nieces, Cynthia and Tameka, three nephews Michael, Robert and George; aunt, Gertie Mae Parham; uncle, Jesse C. Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral for Gertie L. Todd will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in the chapel at Graves Funeral Home. Interment will be in Carver Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will be welcoming relatives and friends at Clayton's Restaurant, 1805 Hodges Ferry Road, Portsmouth, Sunday, July 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. Graves Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. www.gravesfuneralhomeinc.com.
