Francis Slaughter Obituary

Francis A. Slaughter NORFOLK - Francis Asbury Slaughter, 87, of the 100 block of Evans St., passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at a local hospital. Born in Willis, Va., Francis was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Western Electric. He was a member of Tabernacle Church of Norfolk and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Francis was predeceased by his wife, Mavis P. Slaughter, and is survived by two nephews, William O. Slaughter Jr. and wife Lurea of Winston-Salem, N.C., and John A. Slaughter and wife Terrie of Charlotte, N.C.; and two stepsons, Erick Peterson of Lynchburg, Va., and Barry Peterson of Beijing, China. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. B.H. Struthers officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at the Slaughter Family Cemetery in Willis, Va., Saturday at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends today at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
