Alvin Nuckols Sr.

Alvin E. Nuckols Sr. FLOYD - Alvin Edward Nuckols Sr., 88, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009. He was a longtime, loyal member of the Floyd United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. Alvin was a craftsman, woodworker and blacksmith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by mother, Bessie Curling Nuckols; father, Alvin Knight Nuckols; and sister, Evelyn Taplin. He is survived by wife, Ethel Jordan Nuckols; daughter, Pamela Nuckols; son, Alvin E. Nuckols Jr.; and his Pride and Joys, Brooke and Ashton Williams. A funeral will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Floyd United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Gregory, Dr. Don Stansell, the Rev. Theo VanBleck, and the Good Samaritan Hospice Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery with military honors by the Floyd VFW Post No. 7854 and American Legion Post No. 127. Visitation will be held today, July 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel. Flowers will be appreciated for those who wish to make memorial donations.
