Allene Ferguson Obituary

Allene M. Ferguson VIRGINIA BEACH - Allene M. Ferguson, 97, entered into the heavenly presence of our Lord and Savior on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Virginia Beach. Mrs. Ferguson was in retail with Nachmans, LaVogue and Rices Nachmans. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Newport News, where she was a member of The Swinging Singers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell C. Ferguson; two brothers; and three sisters. Mrs. Ferguson is survived, and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Betty Ferguson Thomas and her husband Michael of Virginia Beach; her son, Willard F. Britt of Baton Rouge, La.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their appreciation for the love and care given to Allene by Dependable Care Givers, and to the staff of Our Lady of Perpetual Help during her stay there. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Peninsula Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at the funeral home at noon, officiated by the Rev. Dennis Adams. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes." Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Music Ministry, 12716 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23606.
