Anthony Venturino Obituary

Anthony M. Venturino VIRGINIA BEACH - Anthony Michael "Tony" Venturino, 61, passed away Aug. 2, 2009, at his home after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Tony was a member of Diamond Springs Baptist Church, former employee of the Chesapeake Expressway, and had served honorably with the United States Navy in the capacity of a cook for several years. He loved to help others and did so as a former Boy Scout leader. Over the years, Tony loved many things that included the Philadelphia Eagles football, their baseball and hockey teams, not to mention he liked watching Tiger Woods play golf. He also loved to go camping and fishing with family and friends. After finishing high school, he attended and graduated from baking school. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony Venturino; his two stepfathers, Francis G. Hancock and Albert Fedorka; and his brother, Ronald K. Venturino. Surviving are his loving wife, Virginia T. Hazard Venturino; two stepsons, Edwin A. and Roger T. Hazard, both of Rhode Island; a stepdaughter, Pamela R. Whiteside of London, England; his mother, Ellen Hancock of Virginia Beach; a brother, Albert Fedorka of Virginia Beach; a sister, Deborah R. Tomlin and her husband Paul of Woodlynne, N.J.; four stepgrandchildren, Reia and Rachel Whiteside, Austin Hazard and Nathan Pegg; one niece and two nephews; and a very special close friend, Randall Whiteside. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., where a celebration service for Tony's life will be conducted by the Rev. Warren Skinner Jr. at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. His family would like to thank all of the staff of the VA Hospital Hampton Hospice for the loving care they gave Tony during his final days.
