Vernon Daniels Obituary

Vernon E. Daniels KITTY HAWK - Vernon Edward Daniels, 71, died Aug. 12, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Columbia, N.C. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Patricia Ann Daniels; daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Bill Davis of Mount Airy, Md.; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Nikki Daniels of Harbinger, N.C.; son, Buddy Daniels and special companion Susan Marshburn of Powells Point, N.C.; five grandchildren, Ryan, Bailey and Aaron Davis of Mount Airy and Lexi and Aiden Daniels of Harbinger; and sister, Cecelia Kizziah of Birmingham, Ala. He served three years in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Eustis, Va. He served 25 years in the Portsmouth Fire Department and retired as captain in 1984. He received the Fireman of the Year award in 1982. For the last 15 years, he and his wife Ann enjoyed spending the winter months in Lake Okeechobee, Fla., truly befitting the title of "snowbirds." He was loved and treasured by many and will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held Friday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk, with Pastor Joe Covey officiating. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Ann, Family and Friends,
We are so sorry to hear about Vern. He always took the time to talk to you.I can hear Ann telling him he don't need to be doing that. But if someone asked Vern was always there to help. We will miss Vern at the Big O.....Vern thanks for sharing your life with us at the Big O. It was a honor.Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Ann,
Wayne and I would like you to know that we were so sorry to hear about Vernon. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time and in the days ahead.

We have such wonderful memories of time we spent with you and Vernon on the cruise ship. We will always cherish those memories and getting to know you and Vernon.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow and in the days ahead. Please accept our deepest sympathies.
