Joyce Baker Obituary

Joyce W. Baker SUFFOLK - Joyce White Baker, 78, passed away Aug. 12, 2009. She was born in Kings Mountain, N.C. The widow of Thomas Lansing Baker, she was the daughter of the late Ruby and Morgan White and predeceased by her stepmother, Addie Belle White. Joyce retired as an office assistant from Suffolk Home Medical. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Donna B. Totty, Judy B. Wilson and her husband Bobby; sons, Thomas Dennis Baker and Mark David Baker, all of Suffolk; grandchildren, Dwayne Totty (Wendy), Crystal Conner (Tim) and Ashton Wilson; great-grandchildren, Whitney Chavis and Kristen Totty; sisters and brothers, Ileen, Cathy, T.C. and Chuck all of North Carolina; four nieces; and four nephews. A funeral will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. in Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, with Pastor Art McGahan and the Rev. Stewart McCarter officiating. Entombment will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Donna Totty. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of the Virginians, 1919 Commerce Drive, Suite 330, Hampton, VA 23666.
