Edward Wilson Obituary

Edward Wilson CHESAPEAKE - Retired Chief Master Sgt. Edward Wilson, 77, of the 800 block of Leonard Ave., departed this life Aug. 25, 2009. Born in Edgefield, S.C., he served in the United States Air Force, retiring after 27 years of dedicated service. He was employed at the Department of Public Works at the Norfolk Naval Base for 17 years, and was a longtime member of New Central Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the Trustee Board, a member of the Gospel Choir and Men's Choir. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was honored as Father of the Year in 1996. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sharon P. Lamber, and his mother, Mae Bell Wilson. Survivors include his loving wife, Ruthie Wilson of Chesapeake; father, Mack Wilson (Clyde) of Maryland; one daughter, Denise Robinson of Norfolk; one son, Edward R. Wilson (Gail) of Palm Harbor, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Garnes of Chesapeake, Latoya Garnes of Laurel, Md., Levar Robinson (Tasha) of Atlanta, Bria Robinson of Chesapeake, Karlin Sykes of Norfolk, Matthew Wilson and Gabrielle Wilson of Palm Harbor, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Devin Garnes of Chesapeake, Cierra Mosby of Chesapeake and Kalynn Robinson of Atlanta; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in- law; a host of relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Central Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. We invite you to send a condolence message in the family's guestbook at www.pretlowandsons.com.

An absolute perfect Gentleman. One of the most dignified men I ever had the pleasure of having as a friend.My condolences to his loved ones and especially his wife. I was the satellite man to this fine family. God Bless.
