Pearl Brown Obituary

Pearl M. Brown CHESAPEAKE - Pearl M. Brown, 88, entered into eternal rest Sept. 1, 2009. She was born in Edenton, N.C. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Clara Gilliam; her husband, Jerry M. Brown; and a son, John J. Brown. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are four daughters, Ruth Mill, Helen (Lonnie) Grant, Janice (Edward) Harrison, and Geraldine Bowens; three sisters, Essie Halsey, Daisy Givens and Martha Williams; one sister- in-law, Annie Brown; one brother-in-law, Benjamin Brown; 20 grandchildren; a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a special friend. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. in Corprew Funeral Home. A funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. in New Bethel Baptist Church, Portsmouth, with Bishop James A. Whitaker presiding. The interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
