Joseph Riddick Obituary

Joseph D. Riddick Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Joseph Dewey Riddick Sr., 78, of the 4000 block of Cedar Grove Crescent, died Sept. 2, 2009, in his residence. Mr. Riddick retired after 36 years from Preston Trucking Co. and was the owner/proprietor of Uptown Barber Shop. He was a member of Fourth Baptist Church in Portsmouth where he was a deacon, past president of the Usher Board, former member of the Male Chorus, and past church treasurer. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean conflict. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy E. Riddick; four sons, Joseph D. Riddick (Juanita), Garry A. Riddick Sr., Reginald E. Riddick Sr. (LaCrecia) and Dwight D. Riddick (Charlene); a sister, Marion Harris; two brothers, George Riddick and James Riddick, both of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fourth Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Charles Beamon with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing will begin Monday at noon.
