Marvis Wood Obituary

Mavis Wood NORFOLK - On Sept. 4, 2009, our family lost a real treasure. Mavis Wood brightened lives for more than 85 years, but now God called her to a better place. Our lives will never be the same without her, but we will always treasure the memories we have because she touched our lives. We will miss you so much, but we know you are in no more pain in God's loving arms. Thanks for being that special person who we all loved. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Herbert Wood; daughters, Carol Singleton and husband Larry, Sandy Wood and husband Glen, Wanda Newberry and husband Dan; and a son, Randal Craig Smith and wife Sue. She was also blessed with 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and some very special friends. When she married her husband Herbert, she became stepparent to Norma, Glen and Charlie and was blessed with more grandchildren and their families. A visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A service will take place Monday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.
