Margaret Wallace Obituary

Margaret L. Wallace PORTSMOUTH - Margaret Lee Wallace, 82, of the 300 block of Thelmar Lane, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, while being prepared for bed. God, in His infinite mercy, dispatched His angels to relieve her of her earthly pain and suffering to escort her spirit into eternal peace and rest in His heavenly kingdom. A native of Portsmouth, she was the last survivor of seven children of the late W.F. and Addie Turner Lee. She was a former catalog department manager for Sears, Roebuck & Co. and a former member of Highland Baptist Church. Among her lifetime of joyful memories, near the top of the list was the many years she spent as the official "baseball nannie" of Southeastern Chesapeake boys baseball teams. Her chocolate chip cookies, brownies and ice-packed, team-colored towels to keep her beloved boys cool, created a bond that remained unbroken. Survivors include her husband, Sam H. Wallace; two daughters, Claudia Mason (Bob) of Chesapeake and Melody Fields (George) of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren, Kimberly Barker (Eddie), Cherie May (Bob), George Fields (Mandi), and Brett Fields (Bethany); nine great-grand children, Jason, Joshua, Ryan, Kent, Mikayla, Landon, Miranda, Marissa and Alahna; and her beloved friend, Hope Whitley of Portsmouth. Although she was taken from us, she will forever live in our hearts because it was she who provided the food, fun and laughter in our lives along with the glue, laced with generous portions of love that eternally bonds our loving family. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, by the Rev. Tom Potter. Burial will immediately follow the service in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Sept. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Union Mission or a favorite charity. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.

Please accept my most sincere regrets on the passing of yor mother. I have very fond memories of her, even though my interaction with her was many years ago. It was very evident then that her family was her "pride and joy" and I am sure that her love for you was returned by her family many times over. I hope your fond memories of her will help to ease the sorrow of her passing.
