Vicki J. Hawkins

Vicki J. Hawkins PORTSMOUTH - Vicki J. Hawkins, 55, of the 1600 block of Belafonte Drive, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009. Born in Norfolk, she was a registered nurse. Vicki served a tour in the U.S. Air Force. Later, she went on to work at and retire from Portsmouth Naval Hospital. She was a member of First Trinity AME Church where she served on the Steward Board, Finance Committee, Lay Organization, Missionary Society, Pastor's Aide, a member of the church choir, and as the secretary of the church. She was predeceased by her father, Herman L. Hawkins Sr. Survivors include her son, Derek E. Hawkins of Portsmouth; mother, Joyce Mamie Wilson Hawkins of Chesapeake; three brothers, Herman Lee Hawkins Jr. (Joyce B.) of Suffolk, Michael Dean Hawkins (Bernice) and Victor Boyd Hawkins of Chesapeake; one sister, Joyce Ann Hawkins of Arlington, Va.; two aunts, Annie Wilson and Shirley Robinson (Walter) of Chesapeake; two uncles, Eugene Hawkins (Trudy) of Suffolk and Wilbert Hawkins (Shirley) of Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at 1 p.m. at First Trinity AME Church, 1301 Elco St., Chesapeake, with Pastor Gilbert Harper Sr. presiding. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will be receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
