Thomas Dixon Obituary

Thomas L. Dixon SUFFOLK - Thomas L. Dixon, 87, of the 600 block of Moore Farm Lane, passed away Sept. 8, 2009, in Obici Hospital. A native of Huntington, W.Va., he was the son of the late Mae and Thomas Dixon Sr. and the widower of Thelma Virginia Dixon. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a supervisor welder after 28 years of service. He was a former member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his daughter, Billie Kreiling and her husband Corky of Blue, Texas; a son, Richard T. Dixon and his wife Betty of Suffolk; nine grandchildren, Todd Allen, Debra Kern, Kimberleah Akinremi and Mark Kreiling, all of Texas, Amber Travers of South Carolina, September Tyson, Richard Dixon, Rebecca Dixon of Virginia and Penny Salmon of Michigan; 13 great-grandchildren, Thomas C. Kern, Shannon Kern, Holly Allen, Taylor Allen, Heather Sauls, Alyssa Akinremi, Shaun Akinremi, Andrew Akinremi, all of Texas, Alyssa Tyson and John Tyson III, both of Virginia, Alexis Salmon and Lillian Darm, both of Michigan and Austin Travers of South Carolina; and a sister, Nancy Winfield of Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Pastor David Dickson officiating. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
