Claude Coston Obituary

Claude A. Coston Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Claude A. Coston Jr., born Jan. 31., 1932, was called home to rest with the Lord Sept. 4, 2009. Claude was the son of the late Claude A. Coston Sr. and Clara Virginia Coston. Claude was known as "Claude Jr.," daddy, granddaddy, brother, and uncle. Claude was a master plumber, master builder, master farmer, and to all that knew him he was a hard, dedicated worker. He worked for the Ervin Reed Company for many years, and Brinkley plumbing company. His last employment was with the city of Virginia Beach Public Schools for 26 years where he retired as a leading plumber. Daddy loved listening to and recording gospel music. Claude Jr. loved his children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. Daddy (Claude Jr.) loved his home church, Mount Zion AME. Claude Jr. leaves behind his children: Nikki Coston Wheaton, Cindy A. Coston, Cynthia K. Coston - Terry, Jerry A. Coston, Barry A. Coston, Terry Tyler (Pauline); stepchildren, Vivian D. Johnson (William) and Icarress Gardner; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his loving sisters, Hazel Williams, Annie Bell James, Sarah Francis Sivells; twin brothers, Floyd and Lloyd Coston; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be Friday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. in Mount Zion AME Church, Virginia Beach. Viewing will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. in Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel.
